Product Scene Swaps and Relighting with Flux Kontext (Without Warping the SKU)
A lifestyle image puts the product where the customer will use it: a mug on a kitchen counter, a serum on bathroom marble, a backpack on a trail. Generating those scenes is easy. Generating them without changing the product — the logo, the cap, the exact proportions — is the actual skill. Flux Kontext is our default model for this job.
Cutout first, always
When you ask a model to change the background of an uncut photo, it has to decide which pixels are product. That decision is where lids get taller and logos get redrawn. Cut out on background removal first, then generate the scene around a fixed object on product relighting.
Write the light, not just the place
Scenes look fake when the product's lighting does not match the background's. Name the light source, its direction and its quality:
- Direction: "window light from the left", "overhead softbox".
- Quality: "soft diffused", "hard midday sun with crisp shadows".
- Colour temperature: "warm golden hour", "neutral daylight 5500K".
- Shadow: "soft contact shadow falling to the right".
Prompt templates
Place this exact product on white Carrara marble in a bright bathroom, soft window light from the left, neutral daylight, subtle reflection on the marble, soft contact shadow to the right. Keep the bottle shape, cap, label text, logo and colour exactly unchanged.
Relight this product as if photographed at golden hour outdoors: warm low sun from behind-right, gentle rim light on the edges, long soft shadow. Do not change the product itself.
Fixing the usual problems
- Floating product: ask for a contact shadow, or add one with a masked inpaint at the base.
- Wrong scale: mention real-world size: "a 10 cm jar on a kitchen counter".
- Logo redrawn: regenerate from the cutout with a stronger lock list; composite the original product layer back over the result if needed.
- Inconsistent set: keep a single scene description and change only the camera angle; unify colour with style transfer.
Cost
At list price each scene is $0.038 on Flux Kontext dev, $0.045 on Flux 2 Pro edit. A four-scene lifestyle set with a retry each is about eight edits. Build whole sets in Marketing Studio.

よくある質問
Why does my product change shape when I change the background?
The model is re-deciding the product's boundary. Cut the product out first and generate the scene around the fixed cutout.
How do I make AI scenes look less fake?
Match light direction and colour between product and scene, and add a soft contact shadow. Most fake-looking composites fail on light, not on the background.
Flux Kontext or Flux 2 Pro for lifestyle scenes?
Kontext dev is cheaper per image ($0.038); Flux 2 Pro edit ($0.045) tends to be more photoreal for hero shots.
